TV over Internet: The Future

Video Marketing has changed how to make money on the Internet another wave is coming spearheaded by some unlikely people. If you follow cable news you will know that there has been a declining share of audience and markets. Younger people rarely get the news from sitting in front of the TV. It is deemed as being too static and not interactive.

TVs are now being produced by companies such as Samsung and Sony that have the capability to be used as TVs or can link to Internet TV or standard web content.

One notable proponent of the hybrid is Glenn Beck. In August after leaving Fox News he launched a new TV style channel, GBTV. This has his own two hour News commnentary program plus several other niches. There is a channel for showing vintage TV programs from the early days of  TV. These include episodes from the Lucy Shows, Flash Gordon, Zorro, The Lone Ranger and many more. Like all the other niches you can view the “live” broadcast or pick up the program recording and view it at any time.

Other channels on GBTV included a children’s Channel Liberty Treehouse hosted by Raj Nair. This covers taking kids to outings and taking questions about many topics. There is also a comedy channel hosetd by Brian Sack . On this he is given free reign to poke fun at anything and anybody including Glenn Beck. To get an idea of what I mean take a look at the spoof muppet show Pumpernickel Boulevard and his mock interview withe Herman Cain. To fllow will be a cartoon series developed in conjuction with Icebox who have a hsitory with shows such as South Park and the Simpsons.

There are also interviews with Political figures by SE Cupp and news updates provided by Amy Holmes and Robyn Walensky.

Although many might regard Glenn Beck as a “right wing nut job” you need to look at the concepts that GBTV is creating. The behind the scenes teams creating the product are a wide and varied set of people from all kinds of political and ethnic, religious and non religious  backgrounds.

GBTV is showing how to harness the power of the internet. You are not limited by having to have specific cable channels set  up and can view  from virtually anywhere in the world and from any internet enabled device . The technolgy has come from Major League Baseball and as high speed internet becomes more of a standard it is likely others will pick up on using this mode of communication. Even Oprah Winfrey , recently retired is going to be relasing specials on her internet channel.
